BAEKHYUN, member of K-pop group EXO and a successful solo artist, has made a powerful return with his new mini album. On May 19, his agency INB100 announced the release of his fifth mini album, Essence of Reverie, alongside the music video for the title track, “Elevator.” 

The music video begins with BAEKHYUN being drawn to a mysterious and dreamy figure he encounters in an elevator. As the story unfolds, viewers see BAEKHYUN navigating his busy life as an artist — shooting photos and videos, practicing choreography — all while being haunted by the presence of this enigmatic figure. The video ends with him waking up as if it were all a dream. In the final scene, someone hands him a drink while the word “NEXT” and an image of lemonade appear on screen, teasing a possible continuation of the story. 

Essence of Reverie explores the space between reality and idealism, reflecting on BAEKHYUN’s artistic essence. The album symbolically portrays his journey — looking back on his past and contemplating the future he continues to shape. The title track “Elevator” is a pop R&B song featuring trap beats layered with catchy guitar riffs and synth sounds. It uses the metaphor of an elevator to express the emotional ascent into a loved one’s heart, delivering a romantic and dreamy vibe. 

In addition to the album release, BAEKHYUN is preparing for his first solo world tour, Reverie, which will kick off with a concert at KSPO Dome in Seoul this June. As he steadily builds his identity as a solo artist and further solidifies his signature sound, fans and industry watchers alike are keeping a close eye on his next steps. 

With Essence of Reverie and “Elevator,” BAEKHYUN is set to embark on a new chapter filled with diverse and exciting promotions.
