On June 11, 2025, BTS's main dancer and lead vocalist Jimin (Park Jimin) completed his 18-month military service alongside Jungkook and was discharged. At the discharge ceremony held at the Artillery Brigade of the 5th Infantry Division in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province, Jimin greeted fans with a military salute. From enlistment to discharge, he showed his best with his perfectionist spirit even in military life. 

Joint Enlistment, The Beginning of Special Friendship 

On December 12, 2023, Jimin and Jungkook enlisted together at the Recruit Training Center of the 5th Infantry Division in Yeoncheon-gun, Gyeonggi Province. The decision of these two members, who were the last among BTS to enlist, carried significant meaning. Jimin had expressed his resolve about military service before enlistment, saying, "I feel more anticipation for new challenges than fear." 

The 5th Infantry Division is stationed in the frontline area near the DMZ and carries the symbolic name "Key Unit." Here, Jimin and Jungkook underwent basic military training together and transformed into true soldiers. 

Birth of the Top Trainee 

The most notable moment in Jimin's military life was completing his 5-week basic military training. He achieved first place overall and received a divisional commander's commendation as the top trainee. This was not just a simple achievement, but the result of his perfectionist spirit and constant effort. 

Jimin's performance from his trainee days became great motivation for fellow trainees. From physical training to various military skills, he showed his best effort in every field. His meticulous practice spirit shown in BTS was said to have been fully demonstrated in military life as well. 

Growth in the Artillery Brigade 

After completing basic military training, Jimin was assigned to the Artillery Brigade under the 5th Infantry Division. Artillery is one of the core forces of the Army, requiring high expertise and responsibility. Here, Jimin faithfully performed his duties as an artilleryman and came to be called an "elite soldier." 

Jimin also showed special qualities in relationships with fellow soldiers. The consideration and warm personality he displayed in BTS were fully demonstrated in military life, earning recognition as an exemplary senior in the unit. He became a reliable senior to junior soldiers and a trustworthy comrade to his peers. 

Quiet Diligence 

Jimin's military service was characterized by diligence rather than flashiness. Unlike other members, he showed a quiet dedication to his duties rather than special episodes or attention-grabbing incidents during military life. This was Jimin's way of approaching military service. Within the unit, Jimin demonstrated a "quiet but certain" presence. He performed assigned duties perfectly while doing his best as a soldier rather than seeking unnecessary attention. This attitude left a deep impression on fellow soldiers. 

Keeping Promises with Fans 

During his military service, Jimin minimized communication with fans, but this made the post-discharge meeting even more meaningful. The military salute he showed to fans at the discharge ceremony contained gratitude for 18 months of waiting and determination for future activities. 

Jimin's discharge is also the completion of personal growth. The artistic completeness he showed before enlistment, combined with the mental maturity gained from military life, has prepared him to emerge as a more profound artist. 

The Final Piece Toward the Complete Group 

Jimin, who was discharged alongside Jungkook, now only has Suga's release from alternative service remaining. When Suga's release is completed on June 21, 2025, BTS will truly reunite as a complete group. The change Jimin will bring goes beyond a simple return.
