LE SSERAFIM is maintaining their momentum in Japan with the release of their fourth Japanese single alongside their ongoing tour activities.

At midnight on June 24, LE SSERAFIM (Kim Chaewon, Sakura, Heo Yunjin, Kazuha, Hong Eunchae) released their Japanese single album "DIFFERENT." Prior to the release, the group unveiled a performance film for the title track of the same name at midnight on June 23 through HYBE Labels' YouTube channel.

Casual Performance Showcases Group Chemistry

The performance video features the five members wearing team logo tracksuits while filming each other with camcorders, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere. The setting transitions to a skate park where they perform relaxed choreography to groovy beats. Particularly notable are the witty interactions between members, such as naturally pushing each other when transitioning to the next section or pointing to highlight other members' moments.

First Original Japanese Title Track Achieves Chart Success

The title track "DIFFERENT" marks LE SSERAFIM's first original Japanese title song, having been pre-released on June 9. The group's debut into the disco funk genre features bouncy melodies and addictive hooks that add charm to the composition.

The song has already demonstrated strong performance on international charts. It secured 9th place on Billboard's "World Digital Song Sales" chart (dated June 21), marking the first time any of LE SSERAFIM's Japanese original songs has entered this chart. Additionally, it reached 4th place on Billboard Japan's "Hot Shot Songs" chart (dated June 18) among other chart positions, proving its enthusiastic reception.

Three-Track Collection Delivers Universal Messages

The new single includes three tracks total: the title song "DIFFERENT," a Japanese version of "HOT" (originally from their fifth Korean mini album released in March), and "Kawaii." The three songs collectively convey the message that "living as your authentic self is what makes you unique, and this is what sets you apart from others."

The Japanese version of "HOT" delivers the meaning "even if the outcome is uncertain, I will burn everything for what I love." "Kawaii" was produced by renowned Japanese singer-songwriter Hoshino Gen, with Heo Yunjin participating in writing the English lyrics. The song explores the theme that "cuteness is a powerful force that can transform personal characteristics into strengths" and will serve as the theme song for the Netflix series "My Melody & Kuromi," premiering July 24.

Building on Japanese Tour Success

The single release coincides with LE SSERAFIM's successful Japanese tour activities. The group has been conducting their "2025 LE SSERAFIM TOUR 'EASY CRAZY HOT' IN JAPAN," which includes performances in five cities: Nagoya (May 6-7), Osaka (May 13-14), Kitakyushu (June 7-8), and Saitama (June 12 and 14-15).

The timing of the single release alongside their tour activities is strategically positioned to maximize their growing popularity in the Japanese market. The group has been building a strong foundation in Japan through their previous releases and live performances.

Expanding Global Reach

LE SSERAFIM's success with "DIFFERENT" demonstrates their ability to create region-specific content while maintaining their core artistic identity. The disco funk approach represents a new musical direction for the group while staying true to their "fearless" concept.

The involvement of prominent Japanese music industry figures like Hoshino Gen in the production process, combined with member participation in songwriting, showcases the group's commitment to creating authentic content for their Japanese audience.

As LE SSERAFIM continues to strengthen their position in both Korean and Japanese markets, "DIFFERENT" serves as another milestone in their international expansion strategy. The single's chart performance and positive reception suggest continued growth potential in the competitive Japanese music landscape. The "DIFFERENT" single is currently available on major music streaming platforms, offering fans worldwide access to LE SSERAFIM's latest Japanese musical offerings.
