STAYC, known for their bright and positive image with hits like “Teddy Bear” and “Bubble”, is making a bold transformation with their fifth single album, ‘S’.

During a press conference in Seoul on the 12th, the members expressed their excitement and anticipation for this new chapter. “We’ve always maintained a bright image, so we were initially worried about changing it,” said SumIN. “But we decided that if we were going to transform, we should do it boldly.”

Their new concept was evident from the teasers, where they surprised fans with short hairstyles and edgy black leather outfits. “When fans reacted by saying ‘STAYC has gone dark,’ we knew our transformation was noticeable,” said Sieun. “Until we saw the reactions, we were unsure, but now we feel we made the right choice.”

A Confident and Powerful Sound

Beyond visuals, STAYC’s new approach extends to their music. Tracks like “DIAMOND” and “PIPE DOWN” showcase a more assertive and confident side of the group. “Just because we’re trying something new doesn’t mean our past selves disappear,” said ISA. “We worked even harder to ensure fans feel reassured and excited.”

The title track, “BEBE”, is a funky house song carrying a message about breaking free from expectations and embracing one’s true self. “When we sang cute songs, we felt cute,” said Seeun. “But with this single, I feel like my very existence is cool. I can’t wait to show it on stage.”

A New Chapter Begins

STAYC sees this comeback as an opportunity to showcase their versatility. “Many groups at our career stage are great at pulling off diverse concepts, and that’s what makes K-pop so exciting,” said Sieun. “We believe in ourselves and want to keep moving forward without hesitation.”

With their transformation, the group also approaches the stage with a new mindset. “Our attitude now is, ‘We’ll perform—so just enjoy watching us,’” said Yoon. “We’re practicing hard to deliver a flawless performance.”

STAYC will kick off their world tour following their comeback, starting with their STAY TUNED concert at Olympic Hall in Seoul on April 12-13. Fans can expect to witness the group’s bold evolution firsthand.
