Jin Sets New K-Pop Solo Record on Canadian Spotify Charts
BTS member Jin has made history with his latest single "Don't Say You Love Me," achieving the highest position ever recorded by a K-pop solo artist on Spotify Canada's Top Songs chart.
Chart-Breaking Performance
Released on May 16, 2024 (Korean time), "Don't Say You Love Me" – the title track from Jin's second solo mini-album "Echo" – reached #13 on Spotify's Top Songs Canada chart (as of June 22). This marks the highest position ever achieved by a K-pop solo artist without featuring collaborations on the platform.
The track has also re-entered the US Spotify charts, demonstrating sustained popularity and long-term chart performance across North American markets.
Dominating Japanese Charts
Jin's success extends far beyond North America. On Spotify Japan's Top Songs chart, "Don't Say You Love Me" claimed the #1 position for an impressive 28 consecutive days as of June 24, setting multiple records:
- Longest-running #1 by a K-pop male solo artist in Spotify Japan history
- Longest-running #1 by any K-pop solo track without features
- Second-longest run by any K-pop solo artist, trailing only ROSÉ & Bruno Mars' "APT."
Jin has become the only K-pop solo artist in Spotify Japan history to have multiple #1 hits, having previously topped the chart with "Running Wild" in 2024.
Global Chart Success
"Don't Say You Love Me" achieved remarkable global recognition by reaching #1 on Spotify's Global chart (May 25), making it:
- The first and only song by an Asian artist to top Spotify Global in 2025
- One of only three songs to reach #1 on the global chart in 2025, alongside tracks by Bad Bunny and Playboi Carti
The track maintained its global appeal by securing #2 on Spotify's Weekly Top Songs Global chart for two consecutive weeks.
Musical Artistry and Upcoming Tour
Beyond his vocal prowess, Jin demonstrated his songwriting abilities by contributing lyrics to four of the seven tracks on "Echo." His artistic growth will be showcased in his first solo world tour, "#RUNSEOKJIN_EP.TOUR," launching June 28 in Korea.
Tour Highlights:
- 18 concerts across 9 cities including Japan (Chiba, Osaka), USA (Anaheim, Dallas, Tampa, Newark), UK (London), and Netherlands (Amsterdam)
- Historic London O2 Arena performance – Jin becomes the first K-pop solo artist to hold a solo concert at the venue
- Live viewing events due to overwhelming ticket demand, including screenings at Jamsil Indoor Stadium and 43 CGV locations across 10 countries
The massive fan response has necessitated additional viewing options, with live streaming events planned for both Korean and Japanese tour dates.
Jin's achievements with "Don't Say You Love Me" underscore the global reach of K-pop and mark a significant milestone in his solo career, setting new standards for K-pop artists on international streaming platforms.
