Global superstars BTS have officially announced their highly anticipated return as a complete group, confirming plans for a new album release in spring 2026 followed by an extensive world tour.

The seven-member group made the surprise announcement during a Weverse live broadcast titled "BTS is Back" on July 1, marking their first group live stream since September 2022. The announcement comes after all members completed their mandatory military service obligations.

Comeback Timeline and Plans

Leader RM revealed that the group will begin intensive collaboration starting in July, stating: "From July, we will really start gathering together and staying close while focusing on music work. Our group album is really scheduled to come out next spring. We won't go beyond July or August [2026]."

He emphasized their commitment to touring, adding: "Starting next spring, we will naturally do tours, world tours as well. We will visit various places around the world, so please look forward to it."

Music Production and Preparation

RM confirmed that the album production will take place in the United States, with all members gradually relocating there throughout July to begin music work and concert preparation. He assured fans of continued communication, saying: "We will communicate as much as possible through Weverse live and social media, so if you give us a little time, we will show you properly all at once."

Military Service Completion

All BTS members have now completed their mandatory military service, which began in December 2022 with eldest member Jin. The remaining members—RM, V, Jimin, Jungkook, and Suga—all completed their service or were discharged last month, clearing the way for their group activities to resume.

Historical Significance

This marks BTS's first complete group album and solo concert activities since their 2022 anthology album "Proof" and the "Yet to Come in Busan" concert, representing a four-year gap in full group activities.

Since their hip-hop idol debut in June 2013, BTS has achieved remarkable success with six Billboard 200 number-one albums and six Billboard Hot 100 number-one singles, establishing themselves as global music industry leaders.

Member Reactions and Sentiments

During the live broadcast, members expressed their excitement about reuniting. Jungkook shared: "This time, we're going to completely return to our original intentions and gather together."

Jimin added: "We will work hard and quickly [to prepare] so that the period you wait won't be too long. Just being together makes us happy."

Live Broadcast Success

The approximately 30-minute live broadcast attracted significant global attention, generating over 7.3 million real-time views. The overwhelming response demonstrates the sustained global interest in BTS's activities and the anticipation surrounding their return.

Industry Impact

This announcement represents a major moment for both BTS and the K-pop industry, as the group's return is expected to generate significant impact across global music markets. Their comeback will mark the end of a hiatus period that began due to military service requirements, allowing the group to resume their position as leading figures in international popular music.

The spring 2026 timeline provides fans worldwide with a concrete date to anticipate, while the confirmed world tour promises extensive global activities following their album release.
