Milestone celebration to take place at Taiwan's largest indoor venue with 40,000 capacity

The 40th Golden Disc Awards will be held at Taipei Dome on January 10, 2026, marking a historic milestone for Korea's most prestigious music awards ceremony.

HLL, the organizer of the Golden Disc Awards, announced on Friday that the landmark 40th edition will take place at Taipei Dome, Taiwan's largest indoor performance venue with a capacity of 40,000 spectators. The choice of this iconic Taipei location for the ceremony's 40th anniversary makes the event particularly significant, promising an unprecedented scale of celebration.

Seventh International Edition

This marks the seventh time the Golden Disc Awards has been held overseas. The ceremony has previously taken audiences across Asia, with past international editions held in:

  • Osaka, Japan (26th edition)
  • Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (27th edition)
  • Beijing, China (29th edition)
  • Bangkok, Thailand (37th edition)
  • Jakarta, Indonesia (38th edition)
  • Fukuoka, Japan (39th edition)

Each overseas ceremony has successfully connected with massive audiences of K-pop fans across the region.

Building on Taiwan Success

The decision to return to Taiwan builds on the tremendous success of "Golden Wave," a K-pop concert organized by the Golden Disc Awards. The April 2024 event at Kaohsiung National Stadium drew 40,000 attendees and received an explosive response from fans.

With expectations running high for an even stronger lineup and more spectacular production at Taipei Dome, the 40th Golden Disc Awards promises to deliver an unforgettable experience for global K-pop enthusiasts.

40th Anniversary Rebranding

To commemorate the 40th anniversary, the Golden Disc Awards has undergone comprehensive rebranding, introducing various changes and innovations that are generating significant anticipation among fans.

New Visual Identity

The most noticeable change is the ceremony's updated visual identity. While maintaining the traditional visual heritage that has defined the awards since inception, the new design incorporates contemporary sensibilities appealing to younger generations.

After 14 years since the last major update in 2012, the newly rebranded emblem retains the iconic disc-shaped symbol that represents the Golden Disc Awards' core values. The updated design visualizes sound waves to symbolize music's influence and energy, successfully expressing both tradition and innovation.

Commitment to Fair Recognition

The Golden Disc Awards has maintained its reputation as the "dream award" that artists most aspire to win, thanks to fair and objective selection criteria. The ceremony has consistently adapted its evaluation standards to reflect changing music consumption patterns, incorporating:

  • Record sales data
  • Album (CD) sales figures
  • Digital music streaming statistics
  • Other relevant metrics that reflect how audiences consume music across different media and platforms

Celebrating Korean Popular Music

The Golden Disc Awards serves as the definitive platform for recognizing and celebrating Korean popular music that has captured the hearts of fans throughout the year. As the ceremony approaches its 40th edition, it continues to evolve while honoring the artists and music that define each year's musical landscape.

The 40th Golden Disc Awards at Taipei Dome promises to be a historic celebration of Korean music's global impact, bringing together fans from across Asia for an unprecedented musical experience.
