Girl group KATSEYE is demonstrating impressive momentum with their new single "Gnarly." KATSEYE released "Gnarly" on April 30th at 1 PM KST. The track combines hyperpop with dance and punk elements, featuring bold and original sounds harmonized with the six members' fearless vocals and direct lyrics. The audacious approach breaking conventional norms is particularly striking. 

While their previous release "Touch" emphasized a bright and lovely image, "Gnarly" projects a completely different atmosphere with its unpredictable progression and intense sound. The group's high-difficulty performances, including twerking, hammer performance, and hip movements, effectively showcase the song's unique character. Through "Gnarly," KATSEYE has revealed their distinct color and enhanced presence as artists. 

This transformation has proven successful. "Gnarly" surpassed 1 million streams on Spotify, the world's largest music streaming platform, just 18 hours after its release. The song first entered Spotify's "Daily Top Songs Global" at No. 91 (May 2nd) and has since climbed to No. 74 (May 4th), No. 63 (May 5th), and No. 45 (May 6th). In the latest "Weekly Top Songs Global" chart released on May 9th (covering May 2nd-8th), the song ranked No. 60, surpassing the peak position of their previous hit "Touch." 

KATSEYE has also made their mark on the UK charts. According to the UK Official Singles Chart released on May 9th (local time), their digital single "Gnarly" debuted at No. 52 on the "Official Singles Top 100" for the most recent chart period (May 9th-15th). This is a remarkable achievement considering the group has been active for less than a year. According to the latest chart (May 17th) released by Billboard, "Gnarly" entered Billboard's main singles chart "Hot 100" at No. 92. While their previous track "Touch" showed potential by remaining on the "Bubbling Under Hot 100" chart, KATSEYE has now demonstrated their strength by making their first entry on the "Hot 100" chart with "Gnarly." 

The response on domestic charts is also positive. As of 9 AM on May 14th, "Gnarly" ranked No. 47 on Melon's "Hot 100" chart, with its position continuing to rise. There is growing interest in how far KATSEYE's upward trajectory, captivating both domestic and international audiences, will extend.
