On May 23, ILLIT (Yunah, Minju, Moka, Wonhee, and Iroha) released a snippet video for their upcoming title track "Borrowed Cat (Do the Dance)" from their third mini-album "BTMA" through HYBE Labels' official YouTube channel. The preview offers both a glimpse of the song's addictive melody and hints at the group's evolving visual concept. The video opens with striking visuals of the members in school uniforms appearing alongside bicycles in the darkness of night. Minju gazes into a mysterious tunnel with anticipation-filled eyes before all five members venture together into an unknown world. The members' smiling faces radiate both playful charm and mystique, building curiosity about the story that will unfold in the full music video. 

French House Sound Meets Dreamy Vocals 

The snippet's captivating beat immediately hooks listeners with its dreamy melodic lines, repetitive lyrics, and playful elements including cat meowing sounds. According to their agency BELIFT LAB, "Borrowed Cat" is based on the French house genre and captures the excitement and innocence of a first date. The unique title draws inspiration from the Korean saying "like a borrowed cat," which describes feeling awkward and nervous in unfamiliar situations. BELIFT LAB explained the song's narrative: "The title track tells the story of someone who becomes like a 'borrowed cat' after making mistakes during a first date with someone they like, but doesn't want things to end there and expresses their feelings by suggesting 'let's dance together.'" The agency added, "We ask for great anticipation for this new song that encapsulates ILLIT's bold and honest charm." 

Album Release Set for Mid-June 

ILLIT's third mini-album "BTMA" is scheduled for release on June 16 at 6 PM KST.
