Content
SEVENTEEN has established a new benchmark for K-pop album sales in 2025 with their fifth studio album achieving record-breaking first-week numbers. According to Hanteo Chart on June 2, the group's latest release "HAPPY BURSTDAY," launched on May 26, sold 2,521,208 copies during its first week (May 26 - June 1), securing the top position on weekly album charts.
This figure represents the highest first-week sales for any K-pop album released in 2025, further cementing SEVENTEEN's commercial dominance in the industry.
Double Million-Seller Achievement
The group made immediate impact upon their comeback, becoming the first K-pop act to achieve double million-seller status in 2025 on their release day. With their impressive first-week sales adding another significant milestone, expectations are high for SEVENTEEN's continued performance, especially considering their track record of sustained album sales growth beyond the initial week.
Global Chart Domination
"HAPPY BURSTDAY" has swept both domestic and international album charts since its release. The album immediately topped Hanteo Chart's daily album rankings and claimed the number one spot on Worldwide iTunes Albums chart. In Japan, it maintained its position atop Oricon's Daily Album Ranking for five consecutive days (May 27-31). The album's success extended to China, where it reached number one on QQ Music's daily and weekly Digital Bestseller Album comprehensive category. The release also earned "Diamond Album Certification" after surpassing 5 million yuan in sales revenue.
Title Track "THUNDER" Storms Charts
The album's title track "THUNDER" has demonstrated equally impressive performance across streaming platforms. The song achieved top rankings on Bugs' daily chart for two consecutive days (May 30-31). On Melon's "Top 100," known as the "concrete chart" due to minimal ranking fluctuations in upper positions, "THUNDER" reached the summit and has maintained its position in the highest tier.
Record-Breaking Global Tour Revenue
SEVENTEEN's influence extends far beyond album sales into the global concert market. According to Billboard's recent mid-year report, the group generated approximately $120.9 million in ticket revenue from October 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025. This achievement ranks as the third-highest ticket revenue globally among all artists and sets a new record for K-pop acts.
