BTS Breaks Own Record with 13 RIAA Platinum Certifications BTS has once again demonstrated their global influence in the United States by earning new certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America, setting a new record for K-pop artists.

On June 23 (local time), the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) granted new certifications to nine BTS songs, marking another milestone in the group's impressive American market presence.

Four New Platinum Certifications

Four BTS tracks achieved Platinum certification, which recognizes songs with over one million units sold. The newly certified songs include "RUN" from their fourth mini-album "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, pt.2," "Blood Sweat & Tears" from their second full album "WINGS," "DNA" from "LOVE YOURSELF 承 'Her'," and "FAKE LOVE" from "LOVE YOURSELF 轉 'Tear'."

With these four new Platinum certifications, BTS now holds a total of 13 Platinum-certified singles, extending their own record as the K-pop artist with the most RIAA Platinum certifications. This achievement further solidifies their position as the most successful Korean act in terms of RIAA recognition.

Solo Members Achieve Platinum Success

Individual BTS members have also achieved notable success with their solo projects. Jimin's title track "Like Crazy" from his solo debut album "FACE" and Jungkook's solo single "Seven (feat. Latto)" have both earned Platinum certifications, showcasing the members' individual appeal in the American market.

These solo achievements demonstrate that BTS's influence extends beyond their group activities, with individual members capable of achieving significant commercial success independently.

Historic 5x Platinum Achievement

BTS previously made history when their global hit "Dynamite" received 5x Platinum certification from the RIAA, recognizing sales of over five million units. Among Korean artists, only BTS and Psy (with "Gangnam Style") have achieved this prestigious 5x Platinum status, highlighting the exceptional nature of this accomplishment.

The 5x Platinum certification for "Dynamite" represents one of the highest levels of commercial success achievable in the American music market and underscores BTS's crossover appeal to mainstream American audiences.

Five Additional Gold Certifications

In addition to the four Platinum certifications, BTS received five new Gold certifications for songs that surpassed 500,000 units sold. The Gold-certified tracks include "Save ME" from the special album "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever," "Spring Day" from "WINGS Supplement: YOU NEVER WALK ALONE," "ON" and "Black Swan" from their fourth full album "MAP OF THE SOUL: 7," and the single "Permission to Dance."

These new Gold certifications bring BTS's total number of RIAA Gold certifications to 20, further demonstrating their consistent commercial performance across multiple releases.

RIAA Certification System

The RIAA awards certifications based on digital single and album sales, categorizing achievements as Gold (500,000+ units), Platinum (1 million+ units), Multi-Platinum (2 million+ units), and Diamond (10 million+ units). Units are calculated through a comprehensive system that includes physical and digital album sales, digital downloads, and weighted audio and video streaming figures.

This certification system serves as the industry standard for measuring commercial success in the American music market, making RIAA recognition particularly significant for international artists seeking to establish their presence in the United States.

Sustained Commercial Impact

BTS's continued accumulation of RIAA certifications demonstrates their sustained commercial impact in the American market. The diversity of certified songs, spanning multiple albums and eras of their career, indicates consistent audience engagement and commercial appeal over an extended period.

The recent certifications include both earlier hits like "RUN" and "Blood Sweat & Tears" and more recent releases, showing that BTS's catalog continues to generate significant sales and streaming activity across different time periods.

K-pop Industry Leadership

BTS's record-breaking 13 Platinum certifications establish them as the clear leader among K-pop acts in terms of RIAA recognition. This achievement not only reflects their individual success but also demonstrates the growing acceptance and commercial viability of K-pop music in the American mainstream market.

Their success has paved the way for other K-pop artists and contributed to the broader global expansion of Korean popular music, with RIAA certifications serving as tangible evidence of this cultural impact.

Global Recognition and Influence

The accumulation of RIAA certifications represents more than commercial success—it signifies BTS's role as cultural ambassadors who have successfully introduced Korean music to American audiences. Their ability to achieve sustained commercial success while maintaining their artistic identity has set a new standard for international artists in the American market.

As BTS continues to break records and achieve new milestones, their 13 Platinum and 20 Gold RIAA certifications stand as testament to their extraordinary global influence and the enduring appeal of their music across cultural and linguistic boundaries.
