JYP Entertainment's boy group KICKFLIP is targeting their first music show win with a vibrant comeback that promises to showcase their explosive fresh energy and playful rebellion.

Showcase Unveils New Album Direction

On May 26, KICKFLIP held a showcase for their second mini-album "Kick Out, Flip Now!" at YES24 Live Hall in Seoul's Gwangjin District. The event marked the premiere of their title track "FREEZE" music video and performance, along with the first live stage of B-side track "Jekija," giving fans an exclusive preview of their evolved sound and concept. The group released "Kick Out, Flip Now!" on various music platforms the same afternoon, conveying their bold ambition to kick away conventions and flip the status quo while unleashing explosive refreshing energy.

Hybrid Pop-Punk Sound Defines New Era

"FREEZE," the album's title track, represents a hybrid pop-punk dance song that modernly combines 1990s-inspired guitar riffs with glitch hop and hyperpop synths. The track captures KICKFLIP's playful rebellion as they race toward their own secret hideout, embodying the group's distinctive uncontrollable mischief and unexpected joy. The seven-track album also includes "Jekija," "Someday the Sun Will Explode," "Electricity," "Complicated!!," "Code Red," and "How We KickFlip," showcasing the group's musical versatility and energetic persona.

Music Show Victory as Primary Goal

Member Gyehoon expressed the group's ambitious goals for this comeback: "With our second mini-album, we want to showcase our overflowing energy and powerful performances. Our activity goal is to achieve first place on a music show. If we get that win, we'd love to perform an a cappella stage." The group has received encouraging support from JYP founder Park Jin-young. Gyehoon revealed, "PD Park Jin-young praised Donghyun's tone extensively and said he hopes we can deliver performances that showcase KICKFLIP's unique color well since all seven members have solid fundamentals." Member Keiju added, "Park Jin-young encouraged us to keep fighting for this second album and even suggested we have a meal together, so we're looking forward to that."

International Festival Appearances Ahead

Building on their momentum, KICKFLIP will perform at major international festivals this summer, including Lollapalooza Chicago and Summer Sonic Bangkok 2025. Gyehoon shared their preparation mindset: "Since Lollapalooza features many artists, we're preparing with the determination to do our best and use this opportunity to widely promote our music." Donghyun expressed his excitement: "It's an honor to perform at Lollapalooza and Summer Sonic. We're preparing the stages with overflowing enthusiasm, so please look forward to it." Donghwa added his aspirations: "Through these stages, we want to show KICKFLIP's mint-colored summer and explosive fresh energy, earning the title of 'K-pop stage restaurant.'"

Musical Evolution and Future Vision

Looking toward their artistic growth, Donghyun explained the album's significance: "If our debut album showed what kind of team we are, our second album aims to demonstrate our musical direction." Minje also expressed their determination: "We'll move forward toward new directions without being bound by limitations."

Solidifying Super Rookie Status

Following their successful debut mini-album, KICKFLIP continues to establish their presence as K-pop super rookies with "Kick Out, Flip Now!" The group's combination of infectious energy, distinctive musical style, and ambitious goals positions them as rising stars to watch in the competitive K-pop landscape. With their sights set on music show victories and international recognition, KICKFLIP's second mini-album represents a crucial step in their journey toward becoming established artists while maintaining the playful, rebellious spirit that defines their unique identity.
