Group Unveils Cinematic Concept with Dual Title Tracks at Press Conference
NCT DREAM is making a spectacular comeback with SMP (SM Music Performance), showcasing the intense beats characteristic of SM idols. On July 14th morning, a press conference for NCT DREAM's 5th studio album "Go Back To The Future" was held at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Olympic-ro, Songpa-gu, Seoul, where the group premiered music videos for their new songs "BTTF" and "CHILLER" while sharing insights about their latest project.
Members Express Enthusiasm for New Chapter
Mark stated, "We're making a comeback with our 5th studio album, so please watch over us as we work hard." Jeno explained, "Since the album title is 'Back To The Future,' we prepared this press conference with the feeling of a movie premiere." Haechan added, "We would be grateful if you show lots of love for our 5th studio album," while Chenle requested, "We've worked hard for this comeback, so please show us lots of interest and love."
Album Concept and Official Approval
The album "Go Back To The Future" will be released at 6 PM on July 14th on various global music platforms, with the "CHILLER" music video simultaneously launching on YouTube's SMTOWN channel. This album spectacularly depicts the journey of curious and quirky NCT DREAM as they time travel across past, present, and future to find their most brilliant selves, featuring 9 tracks including dual title songs "BTTF (Back To The Future)" and "CHILLER."
Mark commented, "I wonder if there's anyone with as much 'narrative flavor' as us. We thought that NCT DREAM, now in our 10th year, could do a lot if we time traveled." Jisung explained that the new album's concept was created as an homage to the movie "Back To The Future," adding, "We officially received approval from the original creators."
Dual Title Tracks Showcase Different Energies
The title track "BTTF" conveys NCT DREAM's message about looking back on a past without regrets and returning to their most brilliant future, having gained the power to change the future through time travel. The song features dynamic sounds that seem to transcend past and future over signature synth bass, heightening immersion with SF sensibilities that match the song's theme.
The other title track "CHILLER" impresses with experimental sounds, unique synth textures, and unpredictable development, showcasing the confident and cheerful energy of "chillers" who enjoy their most brilliant moments 100%, heralding a new chapter for NCT DREAM.
Intensive Recording Process and Performance Challenges
Jeno described "BTTF" as "a song about time traveling to find the most brilliant day, with intense performance." Jisung noted, "This is SMP we haven't seen in a while - it's intense and has our signature bridge," explaining, "When recording, we weren't just singing but making sounds while recording." Jeno added, "Rather than being technically difficult, it was energetically challenging."
9th Anniversary Reflections and Future Plans
Ahead of their 9th anniversary, the members shared their sentiments. Jisung expressed gratitude: "I'm thankful to have spent 9 years with fans and members like this. Even in our 9th year, I feel proud that we can hold concerts at Gocheok. While DREAM was quiet in the first half of the year, we'll be very busy in the second half and show great performances."
Haechan promised, "Though we're approaching our 9th anniversary, our passion is as fresh and enthusiastic as if it were our 9th day. We plan to tour, and there might be something fun at the end of the year. We'll have a year as full as marinated crab."
